Finland demands to exclude Russia and Belarus from Ice Hockey World Championship

11:22   28 February, 2022

Finland considers it impossible for the Russian and Belarusian ice hockey teams to participate in the 2022 World Cup. The reason is the invasion of Ukraine by Russian armed forces.

Hockey federations of Finland, Switzerland and Latvia have applied to the International Ice Hockey Federation with a request to temporarily suspend the membership of Russia, according to the websites of hockey federations of these countries.

The World Championship will be held in Finland (Helsinki, Tampere) in May.
