Ronaldo to miss out start of La Liga and World Cup qualifier

FC Real Madrid (Spain) forward Cristiano Ronaldo will be out of action in his club’s first two matches in the new season of La Liga.

Real will face Real Sociedad and Celta de Vigo on August 21 and 28, respectively.

Captain of the Portugal national football squad will also miss out his team’s first World Cup qualifier against Switzerland on September 6, according to Marca newspaper of Spain.

The three-time International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Ballon d’Or winner had sustained a knee injury during Portugal’s Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2016 final against host nation France, and was subbed off in the 25th minute into the game.
