Official opening of the 2012 European Athletics Championships was held in Helsinki.
This event will be the athletes’ final main attempt to qualify for the London Olympics, which will kick off on July 27.
And five athletes from Armenia also will compete at the Championships.
Vardan Pahlevanyan and Arsen Sargsyan will participate in the long jump contest, Melik Janoyan and Kristine Harutyunyan will compete in the javelin throw, and Amalia Sharoyan will run in the 400 meters hurdles.
