Mkhitaryan: If our coach doesn’t invite a footballer, we can’t force him to do so

If the coach doesn’t invite a footballer, we can’t force him to do so, midfielder of the Armenian national team and Borussia Dortmund, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, told the journalists after the draw in the friendly against Belarus, NEWS.am Sport correspondent reports.

Responding to the question on how he would assess the game, Mkhitaryan said that in his opinion they played well. Although they didn’t score any goal, the players created more goal chances in contrast to the previous match.

According to him, Gor Malakyan and David Manoyan played very well in the center after their long absence. “The substitutes also played well. [Although] I think they still need time to get accustomed. Let’s hope the team will get stronger”.

Mkhitaryan also gave positive feedback on the new goalkeeper’s game. “Of course, he might have felt certain tension, since this was his first game, but he played well and managed to save the situation several times.”

To the question on how they managed to carry out the coach’s instructions, the Armenian midfielder said. “After the match the coach expressed his satisfaction, saying that we had carried out almost all his instructions. And for our part, we tried to do everything demanded from us. I think only the thing lacking was the goal”.

Touching on Berezovsky’s farewell, Mkhitaryan said he had pleasant about that since they were bidding farewell to a footballer who exerted every effort for the national team. “He played high-level football and put his heart into making out people happy,” the midfielder said.
