Head coach of the men’s national weightlifting team of Armenia, Pashik Alaverdyan, summed up the team results at the 2015 World Weightlifting Championships that were held in Houston, Texas, USA.
“The team performed their task,” the National Olympic Committee of Armenia website quoted Alaverdyan. “We acquired five qualifications for the [next] Olympic Games. The task is carried out in full.”
In Houston, Andranik Karapetyan (77kg) and Gor Minasyan (+105kg) showed the best results among the Armenian weightlifters competing at the event. They both placed fourth in the combined weights lifted, and each of them also won a small bronze medal.
In addition, Youth Olympic Games champion Simon Martirosyan (105kg) became a bronze medalist in the snatch and came in fifth in the combined weights lifted.
