Armenia athletes that win gold in Azerbaijan will get $50,000

YEREVAN. – The Armenian athletes that win a gold medal at First European Games, which will be held from June 12 to 28 in the Azerbaijani capital city of Baku, will receive US$ 50,000 from President Gagik Tsarukyan of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia (ARMNOC).

ARMNOC Secretary General Hrachya Rostomyan informed about the above-said at a press conference on Tuesday.

The silver medalist [will receive] 30 thousand dollars, and the bronze medalist—20 thousand dollars.

The Armenia delegation will be in Baku with 53 persons. ARMNOC President Gagik Tsarukyan will not head for Baku.

We [i.e. the Armenian side] have also raised the matter of fair refereeing [at the European Games], both verbally and in writing. In my deep conviction, there will not be unfair refereeing. We were promised that everything will be done to prevent deliberate bias due to human factor,” Rostomyan specifically noted.

Armenia will compete in the 2015 European Games in six sports: Boxing, sambo, judo, shooting, taekwondo, and wrestling (Greco-Roman and Freestyle).

As reported earlier, 25 Armenian athletes will travel to the Azerbaijani capital city to compete in this event.
