YEREVAN. – Armenian Wrestling Federation (AWF) First Deputy Chairman and Executive Director, MP Hovhannes Sofoyan, recapped the passing season and spoke about the future plans.
“This year we have won 29 medals, 18 of which were recorded in the Greco-Roman, [and] 11 among the freestylers.
“The most important thing is for us in 2015 will be the World Championships to be held in Las Vegas. Aside from the medals, we will try to get as many Olympic qualifications as possible. In 2016, our wrestlers will participate in three Olympic qualification tournaments.
“After all this, I think we’ll have at least six or seven Olympic qualifications. And the dynamics of the results shows that it is time for us [, Armenia,] to fight also for the gold medal in the Olympic Games,” the Armenian Wrestling Federation official website quoted Sofoyan as saying.
