Chess news on Armenian players

YEREVAN. – Grandmaster (GM) Robert Hovhannisyan (Armenia) has scored 6 points after seven rounds and is currently leading, with twelve other participants, the international chess open in Bad Wiessee, Germany.

GM Hrant Melkumyan (Armenia) is only half a point behind the leaders, Armchess reported.

Separately, GM Karen Movsziszian (Armenia) has tallied 4.5 points after seven rounds in the World Senior Chess Championship in Katerini, Greece.

GMs Zurab Sturua (Georgia) and John Nunn (England) are this tournament’s current leaders with 5.5 points, apiece.
