YEREVAN. – Armenian Grandmaster (GM) Gabriel Sargissian, as a member of Magic Extremadura club, became a bronze medalist in the Spanish Team Championship that wrapped up in Linares, Spain.
Sargissian’s club tallied 10 points out of possible 14 points.
The tournament champions were Merida club with 12 points.
In the last round, Sargissian—who plays second board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia—defeated GM Eduardo Iturrizaga (Venezuela), and the Armenian grandmaster’s team beat Equigoma club by a score of 5-1, Armchess reported.
