YEREVAN. – Armenian Grandmaster (GM) Gabriel Sargissian played a draw with GM Etienne Bacrot (France) in the fifth round of the Spanish Team Championship of chess in Linares, Spain.
But Sargissian’s club, Magic Extremadura, was defeated by Taldea club, and by a score of 1-5 to 4.5 points.
At present, Magic Extremadura are fourth with 7 points, and they are one point behind the current leaders, the Solvay club.
In Round 6, these two clubs will face each other, and Sargissian—who plays second board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia—will play against GM Pentala Harikrishna (India), Armchess reported.
