Armenia’s Petrosian wins in Poland

YEREVAN. – Armenian Grandmaster (GM) Tigran L. Petrosian played excellently at Najdorf Memorial chess tournament that was held in Warsaw, Poland.

He scored 6.5 points out of 9 and took the first prize in the tournament.

Six other participants also had achieved the same result, but they fell behind Petrosian after the tiebreak.

GM Hrant Melkumyan ended the event with 5.5 points.

Separately, GM Karen Grigoryan has scored 7 points out of 8 and is the sole leader before the last round at the chess open in Barcelona, Spain.

GM Karen Movsziszian, on the other hand, has 5 points so far.

In addition, GM Levon Babujian scored 7.5 points out of 9 and shared first to second places, together with GM Vitali Golod (Israel), at the Nana Aleksandria Cup that was held in Poti, Georgia.

But Babujian took the second prize after the tiebreak.

Hovik Hayrapetyan, on the other hand, took the third prize with 6.5 points, Armchess reported.
