Bolt amazed at Bale’s speed

Bale is the fastest footballer in the world at the moment, six-Olympic-gold-medal-winning sprinter Usain Bolt stated.  

The holder of the 100 meters and 200 meters world records expressed admiration for Wales national football team and FC Real Madrid midfielder Gareth Bale’s speed while scoring the winning goal for Real and against FC Barcelona in the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) final.

“It was a great goal. He showed his great speed when he swept past the defense and then kept his cool and slipped the ball under the keeper’s legs.

“He’s the fastest footballer in the world at the moment. Speed is decisive in football,” Marca quoted Bolt as saying.

The Welsh international’s El Clásico winning goal in Valencia on Wednesday came in the 85th minute. On his way to scoring this goal Gareth Bale had run at a speed of up to 34.7 km/h. Usain Bolt’s top speed in the 100 meters is close to 37.76 km/h.
