European club was preparing to acquire Messi for €250 million

During the summer transfer window, three clubs wanted to buy Argentine national football squad and FC Barcelona (Spain) striker Lionel Messi.

With the help of Adidas, one of the biggest European clubs wanted to acquire the four-time winner of the Ballon d’Or—i.e., “the Golden Ball” award, or the Golden Boot—for €250 million, Mundo Deportivo reports.

The aforesaid amount is the transfer value of the 26-year-old Argentine international.

But the respective negotiations were interrupted at the last moment, and therefore the Spanish club did not receive a formal offer.
